Thread Writers’ Room

Your project.
Our writers.
Two hours.

Got an idea but no words to go with it? Need headlines, taglines or catch phrases to put on social media, campaigns or newsletters? If you’ve been wracking your brain for great copy that’s just not coming, or have a designer but nobody to come up with the words, grab a slot in the Thread Writers’ Room. Get ready to feel the wave of relief that happens when talented writers hop on board to make your ideas sing.

How it works

You’ll have 2-3 of Thread’s top writers at your disposal to generate conversation, ideas and (most importantly) actual usable copy. Writers’ Room sessions last 2 hours, typically 30 minutes for briefing and Q&A, and 90 minutes for workshopping ideas and copy.

How to prepare

To get the most out of your time in the Writers’ Room, have defined goals and a vision of where the copy will be used. Come prepared with a clear, succinct description of your brand, service or products, and audience. If you’re not comfortable running the Writers’ Room yourself, Thread can run the room for you using our own in-house set of writer prompts.

What you get

You’ll leave the Writers’ Room with a Google doc that contains all of our ideas. These first-pass lines include everything from true gems and diamonds-in-the-rough to half-baked thoughts and throwaways. A typical Writers’ Room session generates 50-80 lines.

What happens next

You’ll spend some time with our rough work, sketching in how the lines might be used for social, website copy, campaign headlines, or whatever other initiatives you have in mind. You then send it back to Thread, and we’ll spend a couple hours finessing and cleaning it up as you direct us.

Who this is best suited for

Marketing pros who have a clear strategy and brief in mind, and who are comfortable pulling together rough ideas and taking them to the finish line.

Are you a nonprofit? We have a few Thread Writers’ Room slots reserved for pro bono collaborations with nonprofit organizations that further Thread’s mission to inch the world toward a more just, equitable future. If you are one of these organizations, please reach out — we would love to work with you.

What to watch, read, listen to and even eat right now. It's our 2023 Holiday opus.
